How to Find Your Purpose and Enter Your "Me" Era

Are you feeling lost in the world? Are you searching for your purpose in life? Look no further than yourself. In this post, we'll explore how to find your purpose by first finding out who you are, what you love to do, what makes you smile and happy, and what you value in all areas of your life. Then, we'll discuss how to bridge the gap from what you're presently doing to the things that actually align with what makes you feel good and the values in your life.

How to Find Your Purpose

Know Yourself

To find your purpose, you must first know yourself. Think about the things you love to do, what brings you joy, and what you value. Identify the things in your present that you're currently doing. Are they aligning with all of your values and what makes you happy? The best way to do this is to start with a Shadow Journal, really get down to the root and get to know yourself better the things you also might not know are holding you back too.

•What are you doing currently in your life that does not align with who you are and what you want

Think of the things you are currently doing in your life. Your daily routines, your habits, your free time, etc. What are they? Do they match up with how you want to or wish you would be living? If you’re currently binge-watching Netflix but are wanting to build your business more or if you're currently stressed out eating badly but know you want to do more self-care then you have a starting point. You know there are some areas where you need to bridge that gap to do these things. So write these things down. Make a list of everything you are currently doing, then a list of all the things you want to be doing. Also making a list of your values helps you a lot as well.

•Bridge the Gap

Now that you know what you want and what makes you happy, it's time to bridge the gap from what you're presently doing to the things that actually align with your values and what makes you feel good. Start by thinking of one thing you would like to work on or change first, then break that down into small steps that will lead you to your goal. Take it step by step and don't worry about what's to come next. Consistently work towards your goal, and eventually, you'll bridge the gap to start doing the things that you want to do in life that bring you value and make you happy.

Enter Your "Me" Era

Entering your "me" era means focusing more on what you want first and taking care of yourself before taking care of others. It's like the saying, "you can't pour from an empty cup." Take care of yourself first before you can take care of anybody else. Think of it like the safety steps on an airplane: when the oxygen mask drops, you have to put it on yourself first before you put it on anyone else. While we think that is always selfish it means if you try to put it on others first that you wont be able to finish fully helping them if you don't take care of yourself first. By doing things that you truly love and are passionate about, you'll bring value to the world, do what you're good at, and do what you want to be doing in your lifetime while also making the best impact on others.

•The Importance of Taking care of yourself first:

Just like the metaphors above its so important you take care of yourself first. This might be something hard for you that you have to work at doing or schedule time to set aside to do these things to take care of your self, but they are so necessary. Why is it so important to take care of yourself first? When you don’t you get off track you start to get irritated, stressed, frustrated and you aren’t giving your best self to you, anyone around you, or the world. That isn’t good for anybody in your life. When you start to take care of yourself first and take time to do these things you start to become more aligned with yourself, in turn putting your best out into the world and people around you.

•Tips & things to do to help your “Me Era”:

Journaling:

Journaling is an amazing way to take care of yourself, reflect on whats been going on around you, how you've been feeling, and keeping track of everything. This way you might be able to notice some patterns. Such as “well i'm noticing i'm a lot more upset and less happy when these things are going on in my life.”. Which is amazing because then you can work on changing them.

Going to therapy:

Going to therapy, now don't go and write this off so quick thinking I don't need help. Therapy is amazing in so many different ways. Its a way to have someone in your corner giving you an unbiased this party point of view of things and can help you realize things you might not of on your own. It is also a good way to decompress and let out everything thats been going on in your life and get some feedback and advice on as well to better things.

Do the deep work:

Do the deep work, now this one takes time and honestly a lot of resilience and hard work but is so worth it. If you decide to do it on your own or with a therapist doing the deep work helps you uncover and realize things deep down you might now have known are effecting you or causing you issues in your life. Start with a shadow workbook or journal, revisit your past and childhood and see what things maybe have been holding you back that no longer serve you.

Meditating:

Meditating, now I have just gotten into meditating and am no expert on it but what I have noticed is it helps get you into a great mindset and flow. It helps you to focus and be present more in the moment. To let your mind just be and let whatever thoughts or feelings flow. I personally love to meditate before i journal and have loved the flow of my thoughts, emotions, and feelings it gives me. Try just listening and meditating sitting in a comfortable quiet space for at least 5 minutes and see how you like it.

Doing things that make you happy:

Doing things that make you happy. what truly makes you happy, what do you enjoy doing, what do you find yourself excited to do? Sometimes revisiting our childhood and reconnecting with those small things can remind us of a lot of simple things that we enjoy to do and its perfectly okay to do things that you enjoy and love to do! Remember we are making time and space for yourself here, so don't forget about the little things you enjoy to do that refill and set your soul on fire.

Doing true self care not just what society tells you

While yes bubble baths and green juice and working out are all taking care of yourself, you need to do the true deep down self work. Most of us have been building our life on all these externals in life, what we should do, how we should go to college, we should do this and do that… but is that what truly makes you, you and makes you happy? Theres no magic pill or magic juice that will fix your life, all of your problems will come with you. Real self care and real wellness has to happen with in your own life its something thats hard work that you have to truly dig down and see what are the things that make you feel good and feel happy. How can you work through and do the work to get these skills to move forward and past the things that have shifted and shaped you into who you are. What do you want to be working towards what do you want your life to be about instead of just going through the motions of what you think you should be doing, what do you actually want to be doing. Find the middle ground taking care of your mental health, emotional, and physical as well.

Conclusion

By having self-awareness of exactly what you're doing to contribute to your own life, you'll become more aligned and find your purpose. Doing what you truly love and are passionate about brings value to the world and benefits everyone around you. So take care of yourself first, enter your "me" era, and start doing things that make you happy.
